We know that we have patients who experience nerves when they visit the dentist. We want to share some tips to help you relax before and during your next appointment.
Relaxation Tips
Schedule Your Appointment at a Good Time
If you feel nervous when visiting our office, we recommend scheduling your appointment at a time of day when you feel most relaxed. The first appointment of the day may be ideal for you. We wouldn’t recommend an appointment time after a stressful day of work.
Avoid Caffeine and Sugar
Large amounts of caffeine and sugar can increase blood pressure and cause you to feel jittery and anxious. A calming cup of chamomile tea can help you relax. We also encourage patients to be sure they are hydrated before their appointment.
Talk to Our Office
If you are nervous about your appointment, it helps if you are honest about it with our team. We can explain your treatment in detail and make sure you are comfortable during treatment.
Bring Headphones
If the noises in the office bother you or you would like to relax during treatment, we encourage you to bring headphones to your appointment. You can listen to your favorite music, podcast, or audiobook. It will help the time pass quickly.
Sedation Options Available
We never want patients to avoid the dental care they need. If you have an extreme fear or phobia of the dentist, we do offer sedation dentistry. Sedation dentistry allows our patients to relax and feel at ease during treatment. Two sedation options we have available are nitrous oxide and oral sedation.
