We Truly Care
As Dr. Sorkin explains, many patients are surprised at the level of care and the thorough nature of the initial visit to our office. We believe it is important to get to know our patients and learn all we can about their past and present oral health. When you visit our office for the first time, you will not just receive a cleaning; you will also speak to the doctor. We will greet you when you enter the office, and the first step you can expect is to have a conversation where we review your medical history and discuss any concerns you have about your current oral health. We will then perform a soft-tissue examination, also known as an oral cancer screening, to look for any signs of disease. We then take thorough X-rays of your teeth.
State-Of-The-Art Technology
There have been many advancements in dental technology over the years that make it easier for us to find any problems with your oral health and then to perform treatment. In the video, Dr. Sorkin explains two pieces of technology we use during your initial visit. The first is an intraoral camera, a handheld device that takes close-up pictures of the teeth to check existing treatments and reveal signs of new problems that have developed since your last exam. He also mentions using a transilluminator, another handheld device that shines a bright light on the tooth and shows cracks and decay that may not be visible to the naked eye.
