Is It Time?
Are you or a loved one due for an oral hygiene examination appointment? Patients with an outstanding oral hygiene routine sometimes feel they don’t need to visit for routine appointments because they are cleaning their teeth thoroughly at home. Unfortunately, that is simply not true. Everyone, no matter how excellent their oral health is, should be visiting our office regularly for a routine examination and cleaning. Read on to learn more about why regular dental appointments are so important.
Importance of Routine Hygiene Examinations
We recommend that most of our patients visit our office for a routine hygiene examination every six months. Some patients, depending on their oral health, may need to come for an appointment more often than that, especially if they suffer from gum disease. We also suggest that children visit every six months as well.
We Thoroughly Clean Your Teeth
No matter how well you clean your teeth, there are always areas of the mouth you may have trouble reaching, not to mention plaque that may be lingering along the gumline. Our specialized tools can clean anything on the teeth that your toothbrush and dental floss may have missed. We provide a higher level of cleaning and finish by polishing and shining the teeth.
We Check Your Mouth
As with any condition, your oral health can change quickly. We make notes and keep track of any changes from appointment to appointment to determine if a treatment is needed for a problem area. We also look for signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. Unfortunately, when any of these issues are not caught and treated in a timely manner, it can lead to serious issues and consequences in regards to your oral and overall health.
Schedule Recommended Treatments
Did we recommend a treatment during your last visit and you haven’t yet scheduled your appointment? Delaying dental care greatly increases your risk of experiencing a dental emergency. We would hate for your spring and summer plans to be interrupted by an emergency that could have been prevented.
If you are located in Spotswood, NJ or the surrounding area and need to schedule an oral hygiene examination or recommended treatment for you or a loved one, be sure to contact our office to make the appointment. We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones soon!
