The Overdenture Option

The loss of natural teeth doesn’t have to be the end of eating foods you like or smiling confidently. There are many options available to replace missing teeth, and one of these is with the use of an overdenture. An overdenture goes over a supporting structure, such as natural teeth or dental implants and is made up of prosthetic crowns and acrylic plastic that simulates gum tissue. They are like dentures in that they can be removed, but they get their support from dental implants.

Important Hygiene Habits

Spring is here! Are you looking forward to warmer weather and longer days as much as we are? It’s a great time of year to freshen our homes, wardrobes and even our dental routines. We can fall into a rut when it comes to taking care of our teeth, but every now and then it’s a good idea to be reminded of these important dental hygiene habits. Read more to find out what you should be doing to take care of your teeth at home.

Prevention Is Key

As a child, you may have constantly been reminded to brush your teeth every morning and night, as well as floss, so that you would have healthy white teeth when you grew up. You may also have been taken to the dentist twice a year and never missed a routine cleaning and exam appointment. As adults, however, we can get complacent with our dental care because we don’t have any problems. We might think it’s ok to miss a night here or there of brushing and no big deal if we skip a dental visit because we are too busy. This is a bad habit to fall into, however. Taking care of your teeth is just as important as it was when you were a child. Consistent care can reduce many of the tooth, gum and mouth diseases that not only wreak havoc on your mouth, but can affect your overall health, as well.
